Week 6 Solidworks, Creating an Assembly

This week in Solidworks we put together all the skills that we have learnt so far and learnt a few new ones. We started by creating simple parts that we imported to a Assembly where we were able to rotate and move them around, this is where we were introduced to the mates tool that allows you to create certain relationships between the faces & edges of the parts that join them, making them one. We had to add at least 3 mates to join parts in a way that they were solid together and would then 'become a single part'.

Using just one simple part we created an array of objects

After building a Peg, C Bracket and Quad Spacer we used an assembly to mate them all together

After constructing the bracket we created an exploded view and another assembly using the same parts

We turned the exploded view into a drawing where we added an BOM (bill of materials) this was tricky to get right but got it working in the end

Lastly we created a Cap and a Slide and put them together in an assembly, this was by far one of the trickiest exercises that I have done due to the complex shape and cuts that needed to be constructed on the lids but I'm getting the hang of how things work and its all starting to make more sense the more i use the program.
