Week 2 Solidworks, Using Dimensioning, Extruding and Materials to Create Simple Parts

Week 2 had us looking at few new tools, we started off our parts using a sketch where we drew up a 2D 'sketch' of the part. we used the dimensioning tool to get the right measurements for the parts and then used the boss extrude tool to give our sketch a 3D form.
After the form of the part was complete we learnt how to apply different materials to it and then how to evaluate it to work out its mass.
We were also introduced to a pattern tool that allows you to easily create evenly spaced features like the cut outs on the circular part we created. It uses a construction line as a path for the pattern, this will be useful in future projects.

Basic lines & dimensioning

Starting to add some more features to the parts

More advanced shape with loads of different dimensions, mostly simple lines

Circular part, inner circle cut outs made easy by using the circular sketch pattern tool
